Listen to some Music for the Cure at the Lord Nelson Halifax

Compelling Media has been proud to support Music For Good over the past few years, and the great work they do in the community bringing musicians together, promoting emerging talent and raising money - all for the benefit of local charities.

In addition to holding it's own benefit concerts and shows, Music For Good also supports other organizations and musicians doing great work in the community - like Music for the Cure.

Created to raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Music for the Cure is a non-profit organization based out of Halifax. With popular Halifax singer-songwriter Sheva at the helm of the project, local and international musicians will join together to perform and raise funds for breast cancer research.

 

On March 6th, 2009, Music for the Cure is holding their second annual benefit concert in the Imperial Ballroom of the Lord Nelson Hotel. With an exciting line-up of local musicians and all proceeds going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the night should be a lot of fun in support of an important organization.

Featured performers include Sheva, Ian Sherwood, Asif Illyas (of Mir), Tim Chaisson & Morning Fold, The Keats, Derek Roche, Alex Matheson and DJ Cub.

Compelling Media + Design Turns Seven!

Seven years ago, on February 22, 2002 - I started a company called Affinity Media. At the time, I was working in the forest industry as a contractor, and Affinity was created to build a web site for my forestry / silviculture company. It didn't take long to realize I liked web design, branding and marketing a lot more than forestry.

Over the next few years, I was doing less forestry and more marketing when the opportunties arose, but it didn't really become a full time gig until the fall of 2005.

In 2008, Affinity Media officially became Compelling Media + Design because compelling.ca is slightly easier to spell than affinitymedia.ca over the phone, and to better reflect the increasing branding and design work I was doing.

Now it's 2009, and I'd like to thank all the clients that have given me great opportunities over the last seven years. Compelling has grown primarily through referrals - so I owe my clients for their ongoing business, and also for helping me to spread the word about what I do.

So Thanks! And here's to the next seven!
